Activities to get the kids through Covid isolation!

Is anyone else isolating at home with the kids? After all the lockdowns it's getting harder to think of activities to keep everyone happy! The weather can be a little hit and miss at this time of year but getting the kids into the garden for some fresh air and exercise is pretty essential so we've put together some activities that you can do with your EcoSplat reusable water balloons.

Target practice

What you will need:

  • EcoSplat reusable water balloons
  • Chalk
  • Water in a bucket or bowl

1. Draw a target on concrete with chalk, numbering each section.
2. Fill a bucket with water and place at desired distance from the target.
3. Line up and take turns throwing an EcoSplat at the target. You can tally the points and shift the distance to make it more challenging.

Outdoor board game

What you will need:

  • EcoSplat reusable water balloons
  • Chalk
  • Water in a bucket or bowl
1. Use chalk to draw nine squares on concrete.
2. Get the kids to think up challenges.
3. Write them in each of the squares.
4. Take turns throwing an EcoSplat - where ever it lands, that's your challenge!

You could adapt this into a maths game by writing numbers in the boxes, having a set number of throws each and adding up the totals after each player's turn.

Scavenger hunt

Scavenger hunts are a great way to get kids' minds and bodies moving! They can also be outside or indoors, depending on the weather. Hide your EcoSplat in the garden and send the kids out to find them, along with the other objects on this scavenger hunt list! Add your own ideas or adapt for inside play (PDF available here).

You can discuss any interesting observations such as:
  • Is it easier to spot objects that are brightly or naturally coloured?
  • What kind of insects and birds are there at your house?
  • Why has the spider chosen to build her web there?
  • Are there any other colour flowers in your garden?
